Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a community that supports people who struggle with food behaviors. We want to help anyone who feels they have a problem with food, and they welcome everyone from different backgrounds and experiences. Together, they work towards finding freedom from the cycle of compulsive eating in a safe and inclusive space.
OA started in 1960 in Hollywood, California, USA, with the aim of helping people with compulsive eating. The idea came from Rozanne S. who attended a Gamblers Anonymous meeting and realized that the Twelve Steps format could help her overcome her own struggles. Rozanne S. wanted to create a supportive community where everyone could help each other find a better future. Today, OA is a worldwide organization that has helped many people find hope and healing from their struggles with food.
